Tony found his room without much trouble. The room held two beds – one was bare and the other had several fluffy pastel pillows and a pink and lavender quilt.

Okay. So he was rooming with a flaming queen. That… was actually a bit of a relief. He’d been afraid he’d end up with some kind of rah-rah macho sports type. Any guy with a pink quilt was not going to have issues with a gay roommate.

Tony tossed his duffel on the non-pink bed. It didn’t take long to unpack – jeans, t-shirts and the like went into the dresser, a few DVDs and a couple of Elizabeth Fitzroy novels went on the shelf next to the bed. He sat on his bare mattress, leaned against the wall and looked at the pink bed. Was he supposed to have brought sheets and pillows? He hadn't seen anything like that in the information he'd gotten. He supposed he could buy them locally. He had a little money from Henry to help him get by until he could find a job, but he didn't like the idea of spending it all on the first day.

A blonde girl barged into the room and started when she saw Tony. "Oh! Hi! I didn't expect anyone!"

"Hi," Tony said. "Uh, if you're looking for my roommate, he's not here."

"Yes, she is," the girl said. He looked at her. She smiled and gave him a little wave.

Well, the pink did suit her. "But-" Tony said.

"I know," she said. "Fandom High has a non-traditional approach to co-ed housing. I'm Meg, by the way."

Rooming with a girl. How weird would that be? /Weirder than living with a vampire?/ he asked himself, then thought, /At least I'm used to vampires./

"I'm Tony," he replied. "Do you know where I can get sheets and stuff?"

"There should be some -" She walked over to the closet on his side of the room and opened the door. "Here." A folded pile of bedding and a pillow rested on the top shelf in the closet.

"Thanks," Tony said, feeling foolish. "I didn't have anything to hang up," he added.

"No problem!" Meg picked up a purse from her desk. "There's a picnic to greet the new people. Wanna come with me?"

"Sure," Tony said. He slid off the mattress - figuring he'd make the bed later - and followed her out.
