Vancouver, Sunday Afternoon

Eighteen-hour days were normal in TV, even without a killer haunted house messing up the shooting schedule, but Tony wasn't used to the schedule any more. So on Sunday, his one day off, he crashed hard and woke up late. But he still missed the folks back in Fandom, so after he grabbed some breakfast - well, lunch - he picked up his phone and called some people.

Dinah was practicing forms on the beach with Necklace when her phone rang, and she said, "Okay, break," before answering it.

Necklace gave her a hopeful look. "Is it crime?"

Dinah rolled her eyes. "No. Hey, Tony."

"Dinah! How's it going?" Tony asked. "Anything new and weird going on in Fandom?"

"Is that Tony? Tell him I say hi!" Necklace called. "We're not fighting crime! It sucks!"

Dinah groaned. "Does my necklace communicator turning into a less-bright twin of Helena count?"

Tony blinked. "Your necklace turned into your sister?"

"No, my necklace, with my special communicator link to Barbara, became human. She just *looks* like Helena. She wants us to go fight crime every second, no matter how many times I tell her no one is being mugged in the park." Dinah sighed. "It happened yesterday, but she didn't catch up to me 'til the afternoon." She grinned. "So. No other magic happening on set? Aside from in front of the camera, when Leeeeeee is around?"

"No," Tony said. "And I'm good with that. So is everyone's jewelry turning human?"

Dinah sat down on the beach and grinned. "No. Teddy bears, uniforms, Chuck's scarf and I heard on the radio that Dean's car is human-- which kind of boggles me. It seems kind of random. But harmless."

"Slacker!"

"If annoying." She rolled her eyes. "So yeah, this, and the first week of classes went well, and I finally talked to Merlin yesterday."

"Good," Tony said. "You guys doing okay?"

"Yeah," Dinah said quietly. "Yeah, we're okay. I'm okay with how things have to be." She watched the Necklace do a handstand, and said, "And hopefully the worst will never happen." She sighed. "So, how are things around Lee now, with everyone knowing?"

Jack had gone off to see Sebastien the day before -- a liaison in a hotel room, positively tawdry of them -- and had just crossed back into Fandom when his phone started making noises at him again. He picked it up cautiously. "Hello?"

"Hey, Jack? It's Tony."

"Tony!" Well. This made today a lot better. "Give me a moment and I'll be back at the cabin. How are you?"

"Good! Working a lot, so I didn't have time to call earlier. How are you? Enjoying cabin life?"

"It's about the same as last time, except they put us in single-sex cabins this time around." That was a shrug in Jack's voice. "I have no idea why they bothered."

Tony snickered. "Yeah, like that'd stop anyone. I doubt even the straight kids are going to let that make a difference."

"And for someone like me, it's just a cabin full of opportunities," Jack said, a little smug. "... which I haven't taken advantage of, but still."

"Yeah? Who's in your cabin?" Tony asked.

Merlin's phone was making noises at him. He'd only texted before, alright? It was confusing!

"...hello?"

"Hey, Merlin. It's Tony."

"Tony!" And look at that, it even said his name on the phone. Weeeeird. "How are you?"

"Good! Working lots. How's Fandom? Any interesting newbies?"

"A new reserve member," Merlin replied. "She's something called a wiccan."

Still an odd name for it.

"Like a New Ager?" Tony asked. "Er, I mean, is she for real? Or does she just wear flowy skirts and smoke a lot of pot?"

"I think she is," Merlin said with a shrug. Not that Tony could see it. "Karla has taken to her rather well."

"That's good. I mean, the more people we have on our side, the better," Tony said. "Karla's doing okay with the reserve?"
